i personally think not. having played (and still do) violent video games i have never had the inclination to go out and kill somebody-when the console is off-its off and thats it!!- a person to go and commit murder on the basis of a video game could not have been mentally stable in the first place-he/she would have murdered anyway-its their destiny video games or not. your thoughts please.

It is not actually the games they can influence certain people more than others but I don't believe it is the games themselves.
Personally I believe if a person grows up in an abusive home and has developed a insensitivity to violence that playing a violent video game is only going to be a tiny factor that supports violent behavior.
Certain games actually appeal to someone with a mental imbalance and they are more likely to be drawn to that game but over all I would say that the only way those games could produce murderers is if parents let them play them from a very very young age combined with never even attempting to teach them what is good and bad or right from wrong.
I have more issue with horror movies than I do with video games they are more detailed on the why and how and plotting and planning of murders than a video game

If a person plays a game and starts killing people they were insane before playing the game. It isn't the games fault that they're crazy. I played James bond when I was 5 and now I'm 16 and still play games. I shoot pop cans with a bebee gun and I've yet to consider killing someone. People will always force the blame on the games. I just think it's funny that none of the people who come up with these ideas have never played a game in their life. I think playing games would make you less likely to go kill anyone. It probably relieves the stress and makes them less likely to kill.

I believe the stigma that gaming has recieved from media Etc. is because of a lack of understanding. People, Particulary older people. Conclude that gaming is a waste of time, won't get you anywhere and so on. In fact Gaming related sports, retail etc. is ever expanding with increasing media attention that is actually positive. No matter where you go, who you meet. you will find people who are so disturbed that they will find excuses for murder etc. in any medium or as i see it, artform. Some Psychologists believe that Gaming is an addiction, it's not, it's a hobby, a pastime like drinking with friends and rockclimbing. This Crusade on gaming will not end for at least another generation, when the understanding is deeply entrenched in our minds as the adults, the doctors, the pyschologists and the politicans etc. Soon Games will be the main entertainment medium, just look at the huge leaps the Wii has made in making gaming a family activity, one step towards accepting it. now we need another. we need people to accept the overwhelming positives as well as the negatives. Governments are willing to launch onslaughts on the gaming industry on TV but behind the scene they are begging for companies like EA and Ubisoft to locate in their Countries. it's only a matter of time!!

Its shocking but its true.

Two teens took some AK-47's and shot at people and cars and when arrested, said they were influenced by GTA serieis.

I don't think Video games create murderers. Its the thoughts and the person's mind.

Only if a person is easily influenced and already suceptible, like my mentally handicapped son, I find that when he's played resident evil a lot he tends to get violent. I only let him play it cos he's not shooting at real ppl and its about the only thing that keeps him busy and gives me a break. However, games and movies that are really twisted can put ideas into ppls heads about stuff they never knew about, for instance a young child who watches porn will act inappropriately sexually.

Well either that person would take the game to seriously and need to play it more to increase the violence rate for it can distress a person by killing a person. People these days can be really crazy.
