its supposed to end? i think in a war, there should be a defeatable side. something tangible that can be brought down and something new built in its place. in a war, like the one the US is in, we are at war with an ideal. you cant defeat the ideal of terrorism. we can kill as many people as we can that practice terrorism right now, but the ideal cant die as long as there is one person alive who still believes in it. this war is the same as the failed attempts that the US had at trying to bring down communism, another ideal. so i have a feeling we are going to see a lot of similarities between how this war will end and how vietnam ended. bloody and unsuccessful.

If the US would have really wanted to stop it, they would already have ended it a while ago...
So my guess is that they war on terror will continue to wage, and will even increase its momentum. Some government, need to scare off their local populations, to "convinced" them of voting their totalitarian based policies. This will be made necessary as the richs, want to become richer, and for this, they need to get the money of the medium class, and spread the ressources to other markets... So all in all, the world will see its population getting poorer, while the rich will become much richer... Thats about it about the "war on terror", that is actually a politcal weapons to get US approved our deprived officials...

Wow, let's all be really really nice to the terrorists so that they are kind to us when they suicide bomb. The war on terror will not end until all civilized countries in the world have secure borders and strict background checks of all individuals entering the countries.

If you are meaning the war against Islamic extremists - several things must be done:
1) Get off our dependence on oil entirely. Then there would be no money, or not much, to fund said extremists. Hard to wage armed campaigns without money.

2) Get the Palestinian people justice - a state of their own and a right of return to the homes Israel stole from them.

It will end when someone clear headed enough is in charge to recognize that this isn't a bona fide war, it is an ideological struggle. In that context they will simply be rogues that can be dealt with one at a time. By calling it a "war" Bush gave them noble holy warrior status and legitimized their cause.

It will never end. An Anarchist with a horse drawn buggy bomb, blew the bomb up on Wall Street at the begining of the the 1900s killing almost a dozen people.

It will end when the Scots who govern us all, realise that it is almost impossible to have peace in the middle east, they have always been at each others throats. Every Muslim country has so many types of religion they will never agree with each other. Leave them alone and they will leave us alone.
