I got an ipod in the middle of May, and used it sparingly for a week. Last time i used it it was half way charged. Now today i tried to turned it on (after not using it for 2/3 weeks) and it wouldn't turn on. Its now charging and works. But does not using an ipod for 2/3 weeks casue the battery to die?

The battery is always slowly draining, what happened is that the battery was drained completely, nothing out of the ordinary.

The battery has to keep the clock on point, and a few other things, so it will naturally drain itself.

The persn who says they only last 2 to 3 hours is a lie!!! iPod Videos have a 6 hour battery when just laying movies!!!!

Hello, ipod batteries last for only 2 to 3 hours. SO even though you have used your ipod sparingly, the battery could have runout. Time flies.....
Hope this helped,

Not using anything tht has a battery for an extended period of time will cause it to lose all the battery juice. Also it has to run the clock while it is off, so the time is accurate on it which has a major effect in why it would die after not being used.

Although self contained rechargeable batteries are a great invention, one thing that is a drawback is self discharge. All rechargeable batteries lose charge even if you're not using them. So you used it for a bit and then left it alone for 2/3 weeks. In that time the battery lost its charge. That is normal. This is why rechargeable batteries are only recommended for things you use often.

it is okay this time but next time if you are planning to leave you ipod off for a long time (at least 1 week) charge it fully
if you dont your ipod will drain 1/20 of it a day. then after it is drained you cant recover it ever if you charge it

Ipods are usually always on, so they draw a small current all the time, After 2 weeks i would expect to have to sharge it up. Doesnt sound like a problem to me.
