It may have been in black and white I cant remember but it was about a man who has a painting and the painting gets older but he stays the same age and he sees everyone grow up around him. I think he's not allowed to look at the picture or hell be old which I think he does in the end.

It was a great movie and would like to know the name cheers.

That's actually a character from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Dorian Gray. He is from Oscar Wilde's novel The picture of Dorian Gray

That has to be the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde...a timeless classic, but he could look at it but if it was destroyed (which it was of course) he would revert to his true age
