I am a Landscape Architect. I own the company along with a partner. I've always enjoyed my job. The pay is respectable at first. Most of my new hires make about $40K. After a few years of experience and your state certification the pay goes somewhere around $60K. After that you begin to top out at most places. Larger firms the pay will continue to go up in reasonable raises. The only way you will really make money as a Landscape Architect is to be a manager or regional exec. for a large, multi-disciplinary firm or own the company. Owning the company allows me lots of benefits and the pay is in the 6 figures. Hope it helps.

In real life you are most of the time "running for more", either if its about more money, more love, more free-time..
The amount of money that you're payed is less important if some basic criteria are meet-ed:
- based on your earning you don't live thinking about the next day meal;
- you enjoy your work;
Teaching can be hard, my wife is an English teacher and dealing with under 16 years old kids can be stressful, to be a teacher you need a lot of dedication, self-control..
As for me, I'm a web-designer working for a multi-national corporation and yes, i love my job, i like my team and I'm pretty ok about incomes.. freelance works fill out well also ;)

I am a gardener here in Hawaii, and I really like to garden, and make properties look trim and manicured, but the biggest problem here are the employers, and they do not like anybody who is smarter than them. The work involved in what I do, can be very nasty, because of the heat here. My advice to you is to become a teacher for the young kids, elementary school level, then you will have summers off. I would not go into the corporate world, as they treat you like a number, that can be replaced at any time. Go , teach, I wish I would have finished college, as that is what I would do. Teach 4th or 5th grade. Good Luck..........

I am retired! I was always fortunate enough to have a job in a profession I enjoyed very much; electronics / Systems analysis. It has to do with what you enjoy and do to fulfill the slot with! The pay is commensurate with the type of skill and how proficient you become at it.
Most of all, it is perception and attitude that will carry the day.... Always remember it is not the goal, but the journey, which will determine your enjoyment. Everything else will fall into place, generally!!!!!!! When you sometimes come to fork in the road with choices and decisions you have to take it! (Yogi Berra!)

I do data entry. It's quite well paid data entry though. Advantages: Get to listen to music on your mp3 player, good cash bonus scheme if you're fast, only got 1 job to do, some prospects 'cos I work for the NHS in the uk so there are other jobs available.
Disadvantages: Very dull initially, not brilliant pay even with the bonuses, don't really get any skills from it except typing numbers in really fast
My advice, explore your mind! Look towards your passions and try and head in that direction initially.

I got into the software business 20 years ago, because I figured "they'll always need IBM mainframe COBOL programmers". Well they DO - except most are in Mumbai, Manila & Bejing.
So, if you have a choice between doing whatever pays well & doing what you enjoy - do what you enjoy. I'm 44yo & trying to figure out how/what to retrain for.

Search monster.com or another employment website and go into the job description of things that sound interesting. What subjects do you enjoy? What are your hobbies/passions? Find those first and see if you can take a career aptitude test at school and explore those as well.
Good luck!

I am a legal assistant. The pay is not that great, but I love my job! Before that I was a workers' compensation consultant for a large insurance group. I loved that job, they was excellent, but the stress level became too much. The burn out rate on that job is about 5 years. I lasted 13 years until it about killed me - literally.
