The landlord is not liable for your losses, re-housing, etc. That's what renter's insurance policies are for. If you didn't have one then you will have to bear the costs yourself.

Assuming that the property is uninhabitable you may break the lease without any penalty.

Generally private tenants have no rights what-so-ever unless they are in a housing Association or Council property. The only rights they have is to move out so that the landlord can do the necessary work as required under the law. If tenant refuses to move out then the landlord has right to evict that tenant because the law says so!

Have you asked your council to rehouse you? It is their duty to rehouse all homeless people.

The landlord is only liable if the flooding was caused by his negligence.

it would really depend on the insurances evaluation who is the cause of the flood. if ur lanlord is found liable he shoudl offer some sort of moving assistance to compesate for your losses.

If for no other reason but goodwill, they have no requirement to help you find another place to live. If they don't help you, I wouldn't rent there again, and I would let the world know that they didn't help you.
