I rented my unfinished house to a girl in need... who had three cats (one unspayed, one unneutered) and a dog.

The girl moved out, but the pets have left their impression. Though I've removed 95%+ of the garbage, and I _think_ I've found all the feces (in a fit of anger, I threw out almost all the furniture, just in case), the stench keeps my alergic father from even entering the threshhold (he reels back like he just got punched).

I've used Febreeze, I've used Oust (that "odor killing" is crap... ODORS AREN'T ALIVE !!!), I've used some kind of pet stain/pet odor remover, I've vaccuumed and swept and aired it out... but in some rooms, the stench remains in spite of me. It's like a freakin' ghost!

There is a concrete slab (no flooring over it, but there were some carpet fragments that I've removed), and I haven't painted the drywall yet (and yes, I've remembered to sweep under it... got more fur than I would've imagined).

What more can I do?

Remove all the carpeting. I mean actually throw it away and get new carpet or put other new flooring in.
Cleaning your carpet can only get out so much. I've had to throw away rugs even after they've been cleaned because the smell will still linger.

You may also want to call your local vet. They might have experience with these things.
Also try calling or visiting your local pet store (Petsmart, petcetera, etc.) They might know how to deal with such stains.

LOTS OF LUCK! The urine has penetrated the flooring. The only thing that will work is to wash the concrete well, and seal with an odor sealant. Kilz is one. Then replace all the carpet you want. Check the baseboards, too. Some male cats spray horizontally. They will either have to be removed, too, or sanded down and poly'ed.

Sounds like you need a professional.... However, go to the warehouse club store (BJ's or Sams etc) Get yourself a large bag of baking soda and iodized salt and sprinkle in on any remaining carpet/floors.... Sounds like she didn't take care of her pets so, in a few weeks you might get a flea infestation as well.. Leave it on as long as you can.... In a few days or week(s) if you have time.... Vacuum, vacuum and vacuum some more if you have a bag vacuum throw out the bag... If you have a bagless empty it and clean it the best you can... The baking soda deodorises and the salt will dissolve the eggs/larve of any fleas that you may/may not have in the house... Then call the professional...Good luck....

Rip out your carpet...call in professional cleaners who will need to treat the sub-flooring. It's next to impossible to get cat urine stench out. Good luck! I like Stanley Steamer. Plan to spend at least $500!!!!!!
