Roses are very hardy & usually easy to maintain.
The dog wouldn't help!

Try these steps:
1) plant out in FULL SUN.
2) cut back just before spring. They love a cut back.
3) plenty of water.
4) fertilise with manure. Water the manure in very well.
5) in between manuring give the roses a small quantity of bought rose fertiliser.
6) watch for any pests & treat accordingly with bought pest killer.
7) cut off each bloom as it dies. encourages more blooms.
8) Put some stakes & mesh around them to keep the dog off.

Hint: Manure is the trick - they will thrive.

My roses have survived a big drought in Australia without much water on them. I had to use a bucket of water when I was allowed to by the local water authority, so they didn't get much. Mine have survived & are right now blooming.

There has been a big return to planting out the roses which once were not considered to be fashionable here in most gardens. Thought to be too hard to grow & also to be old fashioned. Not anymore, as they are so hardy. Particularly, the newly developed varieties on the market now.

We just planted roses the first time this year, and the lady at the greenery said that the more sunlight they get the richer the colors are. So we planted on the south and west side of the house. Don't know if we will be successful yet, but at least we did do that much!

They need phosphorus to bloom well. You can get a fertilizer that is geared toward blooming flowers. I always went the natural route with mine. Two or three times in the summer I'd get a bag of cow manure compost and pour the whole thing around the plant. Try to make a well around the inside to help channel water. Then I'd drench it with water. The leaves would get that deep maroon tint withing days and it would start producing more buds as well.

This problem is new to me and I've been growing roses for 20yrs now. Lighter in color? They might need a little fertilizer. Try adding some bone meal and fish emulsion to the base of the bush. Or, just try a good Rose food like miracle grow rose food and see if it helps. If that's the worst of your problems, then you are in pretty good shape. Another thing to consider is: Are they getting enough sun? Roses need at least 6 hours of sun a day.

this problem happened because of high temperature , light and low potassium try adding more potassium and give your plant more extra water.
