Here's the scoop, I was just casually walking at the mall and suddenly this Israeli immigrant came up to me and wanted to demonstrate this hand cleaning solution, which I did just to be nice, and then when she tried to sell me the item, I was not that interested in it, but then she told me about a half off sale and then probed me about my mom and then said she would give me a second one for free as long as I kept it a secret. From that point I think what happened was that I was softened by the discussion about my mom that I agreed to buy it and now I am out of $40 when I didn't have a whole lot of money to begin with. The problem now is that I want to return them but:

A: I bought them at Foothills Mall in Fort Collins, CO and the receipt says Town Center at Aurora, CO which is 60 miles away, so the return might get refused and

B: I only had to pay for one jar, and I don't know how to explain to another salesperson that I received the second one as part of a secret.

What do I do?

I would take it back to the place where you bought it and tell them that you want a refund. You have not used any of the product and you have your receipt. Unless the receipt specifies no refunds or exchange only, you should be able to get your money back. If they refuse, tell them you are going to the mall manager to complain. If they get lots of complaints, I'm assuming they will be asked to leave or their lease will not be renewed.

you're likely SOL, but if you want to try (and it sounds like you need the money), go back and raise a stink at the place you bought it. Everyone was offered the 2nd jar for free, so don't worry about revealing the secret, as they're all in on the secret. Cry if you need to, but make them want to get out of their hair as quickly as possible.

Learn from it, and don't be such an easy mark next time.

Even if you had a receipt from the place you bought it, they're not obliged to refund your money.

next time be firm and just say no thanks and keep walking, you can try to return it, take back both bottles, trust me, the free one is not really a secret, that was just her way of reeling you in.If they refuse to refund your money, just consider it a lesson learned.
