I like to hope it can be wonderful... when two people want the same things and want to work to have them and keep them, I am sure it is beautiful. Just doesn't happen much anymore. Sometimes I think marriage is just something forced on you by society, you think that's what you are supposed to do, then end up doing it too fast and the wrong person and then what the hell do you do? Just hasn't worked for me, and it is heartbreaking knowing you are a failure and having to divorce and be a statistic. It is a VERY VERY serious commitment, that 2 people MUST feel the same about. Then it can be the most wonderful thing (i've heard), if not.... there is a great pain, that I couldn't possibly describe.

If it is with the right person and for the right reasons, marriage i believe can be a great thing. Be sensible about it. Do you love your partner, warts and all? Can you put up with their annoying habits? Love is not finding the perfect person, it is loving an imperfect person perfectly. Everyone has flaws, but can you live with them?
I think (mostly women) think marriage and see wedding. They then become comsumed by the perfect wedding day, to show off to family and friends, which they then spend the rest of their life paying for, financially and emotionally. Because:
They don't stop to think that after a wedding which is only one day, there is a lifetime of marriage that follows it. A marriage where occasionally things will not run smoothly and work needs doing on it. I always say to my female friends that if the thought of running away with only their partner and two witnesses to sign the register scares them, than they are marrying simply to have a day as a princess and not because of love.
I love my partner dearly, but i am not married to him. But I know if the day comes, it will be because I am willing and commited enough to make it work with him whatever life throws at us.
So, as long as the serious nature of marriage is understood and accepted, I think it is a fantastic thing. I'm in my mid 20's but I am old fashioned - i believe you should only marry once, and once you've made your bed, you should lie in it.

Why do so many people ask this question? Marriage works well for some and not so great for others although I think everyone would like to be in a wonderful marriage that lasts.

I believe that marriage is a beautiful thing. Marriage is special especially if its with the right person and you both love each other unconditionally. Marriage is a big step and should not happen unless you are sure your ready. Marriage should be taken very serious. Besides children marriage is the greatest gift given from God.

I think it's good thing it gives people a stable & secure enviroment. It is also better for children living in a commited family unit. Alot of today's problems would be greatly reduced if people stuck to marriage ie less std's, single parent households not knowing a parent etc if marriage doesnt work then get divorced at least you can say you tried it.

marriage is the most wonderful event on the earth.
in marriage two body come closer and become one
the things which man have woman don't have and vice versa
both enjoy each other on BED,
both enjoy each other company
both can share emotions with each other.
i know all these things are possible without marriage but you will not get a valid stamp from your society.
marriage give one detiny one good position in the society wiht lots of respect. You can proudly show other or meet others intrroducing your life partner.
so marriage is must for all and people must respect it.

I have 30 years of marriage on most of you, so what I can say is be good to each other, love each other, do not P/O the other person by doing dumb things and you know what I'm talking about. Do things together when you can, trust each other, but because he messed up so bad, I'm divorcing him.
I'm starting to get over what has happened, live gos on.....

Been married 6 years and love it! it still feels like we are on our honeymoon that's considering we have 1 child and are expecting one more. Got married kind of young but have no regrets. We are each others best friends share everything and do crazy things together. I got the marriage of my dreams but i was really picky about guys so my husband was the first guy i have agreed to date. Sometimes picky is good :)

I personally do not think it means what it used to.
People today (not all) just like they idea of a fancy white wedding, or a wedding in the sun.
There are to many divorces these days.
Once the novelty wears off it can become a bore.
This is only my opinion, but I come to that conclusion having heard of, and see many examples.
