it is okay to use low ammonia hair color during pregnancy. women are told not to use it because hormone levels in their bodies are constantly changing, therefore affecting how porous hair follicles are. Hair can also be more brittle or oily. This could lead to hair not absorbing the color evenly or cause breakage.

Over the years, people have conducted animal studies trying to shed light on this matter. Some, but not all, studies have shown a few of the chemical compounds in hair dyes to be teratogenic (meaning they can cause birth defects). However, in many cases, the animals were exposed to extremely high doses of these chemicals, doses that far exceed the amount a woman would receive from coloring her hair every month or two. Clearly, the chemicals in both permanent and semi-permanent hair dyes are not highly toxic. However, no one knows for sure whether low-level exposures are risky
Some experts recommend vegetable dyes as a good alternative to synthetic chemical agents during pregnancy. I found a large selection of so-called herbal preparations at my local health food store. But buyer beware: In addition to various "natural" substances listed as ingredients, many of these dyes also contain some of the very same synthetic chemical compounds (e.g., p-phenylenediamine, dihydroxybenzene, and aminophenol) that the major cosmetic companies put in their permanent and semi-permanent dyes. Pure henna, which comes in a number of colors, was the exception. Henna is a semi-permanent vegetable dye considered to be very safe, though not everyone loves the hues it may impart!

I'd stay away from it. The chemicals in the hair color can enter your bloodstream through your scalp and as you inhale the fumes. The smell can trigger nauseau or vomiting, especially early in your pregnancy.
But call your doctor, just to be sure. I'd trust him/her a lot more than a bunch of strangers on the internet. And don't worry about pestering your doc with a lot of crazy questions, they're used to it.

I honestly wouldnt. I usually dye my hair once every 2 months and now its been 6 months without dying.. to be on the safe side.. wait until your not pregnant.
And just because Britney spears did it, doesnt make it ok for you to do it.. look at her.. shes a wack job.

There is no scientific/medical proof that you shouldn't. I asked my own doctor about covering up my Grey. I was told it was my own decision. Just make sure if you do choose to do so, to make sure you have good ventilation, or go to a salon. Be aware of your ragging hormones. Chances are the color will not take or last very long.

I would ask your doctor, but many say no and others say that it's ok. I would be cautious though because often the results won't be what you wanted due to the changes in your body.

No, I would not recommend it. I know alot of doctor's are against it due to chemicals being absorbed. Go to this link below to read more information about it:
