I am for it, but then I have selfinterrest in this research, I suffer from Parkinson's disease, which I would gladly pass on to George bush, it it will change his mind.

There is so much misinformation and scare-mongering going on in the discussion of this topic. Consider the following:

1.) Embryonic stem cells are harvested from *excess* embryos acquired from fertility clinics. Were these embryos not used for stem cell research they would be thrown out in the garbage. In other words, embryos are not being created and then killed just for the purpose of research.

2.) Humans are not cloned during embryonic stem cell research.

3.) Embryonic stem cells have much more potential than adult stem cells. Despite rhetoric to the contrary, adult stem cells are much less reactive to the research being conducted.

4.) Although no Great Medical Feats (i.e. cure for cancer, diabetes, etc.) have been accomplished via stem cell research of any kind, this area shows a great deal of potential. Theoretically the area is ripe for research, so it might just be a matter of time. If after a fair amount of time there are no promising results then research scientists can try something else.

5.) It might be moot anyway because some research has indicated that embryonic stem cell research won't be necessary. A study has shown that it *might* be possible to replicate stem cells without harvesting them from embryos.

When you take these facts into consideration it's not such a hot topic after all.

I am for stem cell research as long as good guidelines are followed and that no unethical procedures are used. And I will leave that to the medically knowledgeable people decide.

For all forms of stem cell research.

It's rather obvious that you are talking about embryonic stem cell research since adult stem cell research harms nothing, and is not legislated.

Shouldn't you ask if they are for or against federal funding of embryonic stem cell research?

Stem cell research of all kinds is legal. Embryonic stem cell research is legal. Federal funding is only available if the research is on those previously designated lines.

How ironic it is for President Bush to be opposed to the use of dead human embryo stem cells for research, when he has NO problem sending LIVING healthy young adults marching in the Iraqi heat to their death.

The stem cells of already dead human embryos can help medical science find cures once thought impossible to find.

Tell me how the Iraq war is saving lives from disease.

That is an ambiguous question. I am for adult stem cell research. I am not for embryonic stem cell research. Can you please refrase the question?

For it as long as they don't touch one single embryo. There are other ways to get stem cells, such as getting them from hair follicles and such.
