It would not take much effort. One afternoon of air bombardment would probably do it and they could eliminate Castro for good. I know that the Cuban people would be extremely relieved and grateful to be free so why not do it? Sure, some people are going to criticize the US for invading a smaller country but those people don't have to live the way Cubans do. I know it’s unfair to ask the US to take on the responsibility of eliminating all the dictators in this world and continue to interfere with other countries’ affairs but unlike in other countries that the US has invaded, Cubans do wish someone would help them obtain their freedom. Nothing would make them happier than for someone to come in and eliminate Castro. They can’t do it on their own since the Cuban government has absolute control over their lives and they have no weapons available to them. I think the US would benefit from a free and democratic Cuba too since they are so close to US soil. Also, it’s well known that Castro has strong ties with Chavez and Ahmdinejad. What if the Iranian president is able to build WMD and give Castro some? Should we wait until that happens to act?

Shouldn't we respect international rights and borders?

Imagine how the world would react to that. People everywhere despise Americans because of the Iraq War, and the last thing we need is another conflict costing billions of dollars and many US soldiers. Besides, Castro will be dead soon anyway. Why not let him die naturally and let his brother, who is not a diehard communist dictator, take over. The embargo could be lifted and there would be enough Cuban Cigars for everyone! Huzzah! Our forces are already spread too thin, and the war would not be popular on the home front.

Their government isn't really any of our business, since they aren't threatening us. Even if Iran gave Cuba nuclear weapons, they wouldn't use them against us.

If the Cubans want to change their government, they should do it themselves. Maybe we could provide some help, like providing weapons, and providing air cover when they attack, but they should be the ones to do most of the work.

Note that back during the Kennedy administration, some Cuban exiles actually did try to overthrow Castro. It was called the Bay of Pigs. Kennedy said he'd support them, but then at the last minute he decided he wasn't going to support them, and they all died. Most Cuban Americans vote for Republicans now, because they're still mad at Kennedy for that.

It wouldn't be THAT easy. Cuba still has a military, and it has value to other countries. That's probably the only reason people aren't constantly invading eachother these days. Alliances are made. If the U.S.A invaded Cuba, Russia and a few other countries would come to aid, and now you're in a lot of trouble. Decisions aren't made just like that, you have to explore every possible angle for something that will screw you over.

President Kennedy made a deal with the Soviet Union to resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Once that was resolved and we were satisfied the Soviets had removed nuclear weapons from Cuba we lifted the blockade.
Cuba does business with the entire world, except the U.S.A.
IF COMMUNISM WAS A WORKABLE SYSTEM, THEY WOULD HAVE A THRIVING ECONOMY.
Communism doesn't work.
Keep them THERE as a PRIME EXAMPLE of the total failure of MARXIST Theories!
Point them out every time anyone say Marxism has NEVER been given an honest opportunity to work.
No one has prevented it from working in Cuba.
The refusal of the U.S. to do business with them only underscores our commitment to FREEDOM!

We need a real reason for any invasion no matter what the libs try to make up about why and how we went into Iraq. There is no need to invade Cuba, we must wait and unfortunately the people of Cuba must wait for Castro and his evil brother to die and the country to become free again.

"because of the fact of this united states of america continually objective small vulnerable stepped forward countries like Iraq..." you have a tremendously unusual concept of what constitutes a "vulnerable stepped forward u . s .." on the single hand, you communicate Iraq vulnerable. on the different, you communicate Iran--which fought Iraq to a standstill--solid. If Iran grew to become into lots enhanced than Iraq, why did no longer it win the Iran-Iraq conflict? And if Iraq grew to become into so vulnerable, why all the doom and gloom related to the "fourth greatest militia interior the worldwide?" "... Serbia Lebanon etc" Lebanon? i could desire to've missed that one. we are no longer even in UNIFIL. "yet will never circulate after a great u . s . like say China, Russia or Brazil or Iran etc" perhaps because of the fact we are at peace with China and Russia and Brazil? And we've been monkeying around covertly with Iran for years. Did you think of all those protests after the final "election" have been spontaneous? to respond to your question, we don't invade Cuba because of the fact it is not in our interest to invade Cuba and an invasion of Cuba does not be criminal. that may no longer the Nineteen Sixties any further. the worldwide has moved on. The very concept of invading Cuba is preposterous for greater motives than i can count huge form. What ought to we in all likelihood income by utilising overrunning Cuba, different than perhaps cigars and classic vehicles?

I hear Cuba was responsible for 9/11 and that some Cuban dude burned an American flag. Therefore, Bush should send 100k troops into Cuba and start killing random people because those Cubans might steal our "Freedom".

How about the aren't a threat to the US. You sound just like the people that said we would be greeted as liberators in Iraq.

We wouldn't allow any government to give nukes to Cuba, we stopped to USSR from trying to do that in the 1960's. No soveriegn country is going to attack the US with Nukes anyway, because that would be suicidal for them.

If we would just lift the trade embargo with Cuba we could have a positive influence on that country without resorting to warfare.

There's no need to, they are not a threat nor has an act of war been committed against us by Cuba in many, many years. In fact, they even offered aid.

Beyond that, at this point it is most prudent just to wait until Castro dies. Our gov't appoints a committee each year to deal with Cuba once Castro dies.

Despite the paranoid delusions about nonexistant Iranian WMD, Cuba is not a threat to the United States.

And contrary to the neocon desirre for empire--and to force anyone they don't like into submission to their agenda, the US does not have the right--and is not going to knowingly--invade any country that is not a relal threat.

The American people have already made that clear: that is not wha tAmerica is about. If the neo-cons don't like it, they can leave. And good riddance.
