Time travel forward is possible in theory, but we do not have the technology to do it.
Basically, you just go close to the speed of light. As you approach the speed of light, you undergo an effect called "time dilation." That means that time slows down for you, but stays the same for people who are going normal speed. Thus, you travel for what seems like 10 days for you, but it might be 10,000 years for people on earth (or something, I haven't done the math in quite a while).
Anyway, following that to its logical conclusion, you can see that at the speed of light, time will stop altogether, and as you PASS the speed of light, time will begin to go backwards (again, backwardsness will be less as you are close to the speed of light, and as you go farther beyond the speed of light, the speed of reverse time will increase).
The problem is that it is impossible to go at the speed of light, let alone past it.
Second problem is that if you were able to go at the speed of light, time would stop for you, right? So, if time stops, that means all thought functions stop, as do all computer processes. So there'd be no way to have the computers on your time machine do your thinking for you to tell you when to stop going backwards, and there'd be no way for you to do it either.
My guess would be that if anyone attempts time travel in the future, they'll just go all the way back to the big bang and become part of the singularity, at which point time will stop again, and it won't matter anymore.

Brian L. is right on, I don't think anyone can top that answer! lol...Everything at this moment is only theoretical time travel. However, there is one theory, that probably has absolutely no way of being an actual way to time travel...The theory states that if you were hovering just over the Event Horizon of a Black Hole, time would go SO slow for you that when you left the Event Horizon, Thousands of years would have passed outside. So in that case you would be a future time traveller. But of course...there are so many unexplained questions about black holes themselves that this is definately NOT a probable way to time travel...lol...just something to think about, that's all.

I don't believe actual time travel is possible, but I do think we will be able to see events as they happened in the past.
Light from the sun reflects off of Earth into space. If we can "catch up" to the reflected light, we would be able to see what the light was being reflected off of. For example, when you look through a telescope at a star that is 1 million light-years away, you are seeing that star as it existed 1 million years ago. Understand?

I just arrived from the future to tell you time travel is possible, but not for another 2,498 earth years, but that doesn't really matter anymore.

if the world were swarming with time travelers, then there would be people popping up out of nowhere and other people vanishing. besides it being highly unlikely that such activity, if widespread, could go unnoticed, it would violate a number of conservation laws, especially conservation of energy.

Actully its not possible.
Reason: If it would be possible after many years then the generation of future will definately come to our present , past & future(which they have studied in their history).
It is possible in our mind. just close your eye and go through your past

Time travel violates causality.
The universe does not tolerate contradiction.
No time travel.
