Fractions, Decimals, and Percents
Operation Explanation Example
Convert a decimal to a percent
Move the decimal point 2 places to the right and add a percent (%) sign. If you need to, add a zero on the back to get the second decimal place. .123 = 12.3%
Convert a percent to a decimal
Move the decimal point 2 places to the left. If you need to, put a zero on the front. 5% = .05
Convert a fraction to a decimal
Divide the numerator by the denominator, using your calculator. 1/8 = .125
Convert a percent to a fraction
First turn the number into a decimal. Then turn the number into a fraction by putting it over 10, 100, 1000, or whatever number is big enough to have enough zeroes for each place after the decimal.
18% = .18 = 18/100 = 9/50

a very useful and necessary task to be able to do throughout your life.
12% for example.
drop the percent sign and starting from the far right if there is no decimal or at the decimal point if there is one, move the decimal point two places to the left. so for 12% it will be equal to .12
if it is 8%, there are not two numbers, so how do we move the deciaml point two places? the answer is that we must add a place by adding a leading zero, so 8% becomes .08.
if you have 7.5%, there is a decimal point so we start from that and move the decimal 2 places to the left and add a leading 0 becuase we need an extra space, so it becomes .075.
that's all.

You move the decimal point over 2 places to the left or in other words, divide by 100. For example, 25% would be .25 Yay for math..not :D

OK so lets say you have 30%. Its 30% of 100%. 100% is 1.0 in decimal form so 30% is 0.30 in decimal form.
