You mean besides the Harry Potter series?

For action/adventure, the Destroyer series is mighty good. Lots of action, lots of satire, more than a little comedy.

For historical fiction, I think the Hornblower Series, and the Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O'Brien are very good. As are the Lord Ramage books by Dudley Pope. All are good sea-going adventues, but Hornblower is my favorite.

Anything by Laurell K Hamilton, she has two series going right now. Anita Blake and Merry Gentry.
Christine Feehan has three series, all good. Dark series, Drake Sisters, and Ghost Walkers.
Sherrilynn Kenyon has both the Dark Hunters and B.A.D series. She has more but I haven't read them yet.
