No. Christianity itself is not changing. Rather, the people who follow are not following to the same degree. As society changes, the amount of "control" that religion has can either increase or decrease. A good way to tell if Christianity is really changing might be to look at the strictest sects of Christianity, such as the Fundamentalists.

Christianity as a religion changes only slowly. The largest denomination, Roman Catholicism, still refuses to ordain women or married men, and recently decided not to ordain gay men. The larges protestant denomination, The Southern Baptist Convention, still does not ordain women and has become more conservative over the years. (I guess that's a change, but not one in the direction you suggested.)

While women have been ordained in the Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, and some parts of the Lutheran churches, these denominations are actually losing membership rather than gaining. Therefore, any changes they represent have a diminished impact on Christianity as a whole.

I certainly hope so...

Did you know that a hundred years ago the Roman Catholic Church's official statement was that the Earth was flat? Yeah, it took them over 500yrs to finally accept that not only was the Earth ROUND but also that it wasn't the center of the universe!

And we wonder why it takes Christians so long to accept reality?
