I was watching the 40-year-old-virgin (hated it, but I don't like comedies) recently and the scene were the guys decipher Steve Carell (sp?) is still a virgin, one of the guys asks him: Are you gay? What is it about being a virgin and not wanting to talk about sex, has always made people (of all races and ages) assume that a person who's a virgin for such a long period of time is Gay? Being a virgin is about not having sex. Right? Being gay is about being attracted to the same sex and/or having sexual relations with an individual of the same sex. Right? So what does one have to do with the other? I've always wondered about this.

TECHNICALLY YOUR RIGHT... BUT IN THE REAL WORLD EVERYONE LOOKS AT IT DIFFERENTLY. I THINK THAT THE REASON PEOPLE THINK THAT YOU GAY IF YOUR A VIRGIN IS BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE WHO ARE GAY TAKE LONGER TO HAVE SEX BECAUSE THEY ARE TRYING TO COME OUT OF THE CLOSET, ETC. In that movie they were saying if this guy is 40 years old and still a virgin, is he gay asking him does he like men. Not many people out there today are virgins after they turn 20 I am not sayin everyone has lot the virginity, but its common. Look at kids today, they say 70% of seniors in high school have already sleep with someone, and when they don't they say people are gay, because they haven't try having sex with the opposite sex, so maybe they like the same sex. Its a tough thing to describe, people have been saying this for many years!

Unfortunately, sex is used with just about everyone. We have 14 year olds having babies a lot more than ever before. It's society, period. For whatever reason, people tend to forget that some people are raised with good moral beliefs. That some people have a lot of religious beliefs that they stand by. To me, it's a quick cop out for someone to think that another is gay for not having sex.
Too bad that there are so many 14 year olds having babies. They have no clue how to raise them. They use their parents for babysitters while they go out and live the life they miss. It's horrible. I think it's great that anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 decides to keep their virginity. More power to them. They know they will not die from AIDS. They know they won't have to worry about child support at 15 years old. They know they will not have to worry about the whole "to get an abortion, or not". See, now it sounds a whole lot better to be a virgin when you think about the down side to sex.

Just because you are a virgin, doesn't mean a person is gay. Some people like to wait to find the ideal person. My brother-in-law was a virgin until the age 38, then he found his ideal female for marriage, also the future wife was a virgin, she is 37.
Most people think that if you don't have sex while in high school, you are either a gay or a nerd, not so. Many don't want a relationship and to be tied down with marriage. I admire people like that, yes, being a virgin isn't having sex and being gay is male to male or female to female. never be ashamed who or what you are! one can be gay and a virgin, no big deal, some males just like a male around to party and go places with out a commintment for sex.

You sound as though you are a very bright young man. Im sure that you already know this, but I'll say it anyway. All guys have a reputation for being hounds. I mean ALL guys. The only way that a guy will prove not to be is to do as you are. Unfortunately, this also brings out the sad thoughts of small minded people. Well the simple answer is of course that if you're a virgin, then that means you MUST not WANT to have sex with women and therefore you MUST WANT to have sex with men. Hence, gay.
Of course, that's stupid silly macho posturing and ignorance. People are virgins for various reasons. Maybe sex is more than just getting your rocks off. Maybe they reserve sex until after marriage. Maybe they haven't met the right person. Maybe they haven't been lucky enough to have sex (and not with a hooker).
But the truth is, people don't take the time to get to know these reasons and want the simplified assumption that they're gay because they think that's funny.
Ignore people who make statements like that because it just means they're trying to be funny and they're just showign their stupid.

I think that men are insecure with them selves has it is. So when they hear some guy saying that he has not had sex yet the automatic think that he is gay. When men do have sex they can not go back to not having sex and that is why they think that it's weird when men have not had sex. Really it sad. It is a choice to save your self for that right person. I think that I should have waited for that perfect person. But for men that different. Men have to live up to what other men do. Really if all the men jump off the bridge, does that mean that you have to jump off the bridge. Think about it. With the disease that are going around this days you have to be careful. I think that if a man is a virgin, it shows will power and confidants. Do not worry about other men worry about your self.

People think this because they are so narrow minded and ignorant. They do not understand morals and self virtues. They are stupid, come to think of it. even if a person is gay, it doesn't guarantee that he would be a virgin. if you are gay, you could still have sex, right? It's just the dunb mentality of people- the same way some guys don't want to have a girlfriend who is a virgin, cause they think its weird or just wrong. so stupid right?

Society has such a stigma against being gay that
sometimes it takes people a long time to admit
to themselves that they ARE gay ... so they just
fail at every heterosexual relationship they have.
If you fail at your relationships, you may never
get as far as having sex... However, this sort of
denial has the potential to be far worse than
simple lack of sex - people have commited
suicide rather than admit they were gay.

The assumption is that if a guy wanted to have sex with a women, he would have done so already. Therefore if he hasn't, he must not want to.
This is a concept adopted by people who have no discipline, no will power, no morals or no class.
Be proud of your virginity, as long as you want it. if you are a virgin because nobody wants you, I'm sorry. If you are a virgin because you believe in waiting, go for it!

Lol good question, my guess is:
People might assume if you're still a virgin at an older age then you're confused about your sexuality so abstain from any sexual intercourse as you don't want to be out and gay but you don't want to have straight sex either.
