I do not iron sheets, but my grandmother always ironed the sheets. She also ironed my grandpa's boxer shorts.

Once a week after I wash them. Don't know why, it's just nice to climb into a really clean looking bed. Even if a few minutes later we've torn them all out.

I did when they were new, to get the creases out, but after several washings, they're pretty soft and smooth now.
