I once saw a rainbow on a train. It was caused by a leaking fire extinguisher by a passenger door, and water was jetting out of the carriage through an open window.
It was a very hot day, and the effect of the sunlight shining on the water spraying out from the extinguisher caused a rainbow.

I'm 50 years old and see about the same number each year as always.
Some years more some less - It depends on the type of rain we get.
April showers (rain with sunshine) produce rainbows

Since the rainbows still reflect on areas of suspended precip/moisture, that would indicate they are still there, however maybe we dont notice them as much these days since our priorities have changed, and our interests are no longer those we used to love as a child.

I do - perhaps you're living closer to the equator. There are fewer hours during the day when you can see a rainbow, the nearer you are to the equator.
