answer is simple: america does not like a black man who they deem as being given so much, and believe that he should be cheerful for what ever he gets because he is black. Kobe should ask for whatever he wants in basketball because he deserves it and he earns it. Stop hiding behind your prejudices. when brett favre asked to be traded and flip floped it was no problem but when kobe does it, it is a problem? people look at yourselves in the mirror and stop being so scared of something you created.

Kobe took the lakers to the 7th seed and a first round loss and that point you have earn it and deserve what ever you want. Kobe is nothing without shaq he went from 3 ring to first round loses. There is few other players that could put up big point games like kobe but they would rather win on a consistent basis.the reason I hate him is because he is a laker. And the only reason kobe want to leave the lakers is the sonics and blazer to non playoff conference team just got 1 and 2 picks in the draft which mean oden and durant will be in the west. sonics will have Ray Allen rashard lewis and durant. the blazer with a lot of young talent and the next tim duncan. that 7th spot will turn into a 9 spot real quick and kobe will be on the outside looking in when come to the playoffs. He made his first trade demand a day after the draft lottery. He want to go to the soft eastern confernce and try to do something like labron take some scrubs to the finals People say farve should retire cause he is old is that ageism

Stop trying to play the race card! I have not heard anyone say anything about not liking Kobe because he is black. I personally don't like him because of regardless of how good he is on the court(which I find questionable without Shaq),he shows bad character as a person. Besides all he did in his personal life, bad mouthing his team is no way to have people respect him. Racism is such a stupid thing and it makes me so upset when people try and use race as an excuse for something. If you have heard or read something someone said about Kobe being black and undeserving of what he earned then that sucks but you are no better for re enforcing those thoughts. Kobe is just a whiny spoiled brat who needs to take a look in the mirror and examine himself as a human being!!!!

There are a lot of players in the NBA that demand their worth, but not quite the same way that Kobe has done it.

Kobe basically said that his team was worthless and on many occasions he has ripped on his teammates. He is not a guy that I would personally want on my team, can he be trusted in the end? There is a classier way to go about wanting to be traded. Right now he is ranking up there with Vince Carter and Latrell Sprewell on the demand meter.

I guess you can call everyone racist because they are upset if you want to, but I have to merely point out that most of the players in the NBA are black, so that argument doesn't go very far.

Kobe is the best player currently in the NBA and sure he deserves the money, but his demands aren't about money, they are about his ego. I still say the guy is having a mid-career crisis and he has no clue what he really wants.

sj why would you post a question than answer it yourself???

And I don't think you notice but who has been the only NBA player B!tching about his team. The black Kobe Bryant. I am sure if Nash went crazy like this same thing would happen.

OH and by the way Brett Favre didn't rape anyone in Colorado, and his worth to Green Bay was much greater than Kobe's will ever be to LA.

i don't think it's a matter of race! jordan was black and everybody liked him! People judge the man, NOT THE PLAYER, that's why they hate him! Kobe is not the first and wont be the last to cheat on his wife! Also, nothing says he raped the girl! She might have faked it! A lot of girls on this tchat would have sex with Kobe for free i bet!....
Kobe doesn't play for hiimself, he passes the ball! I'm sure you haven't watched the regular season! IF he's so selfish, why would he want play for a different team and requested better player? Cuz i mean, if im selfish, i rather play in a loser team, so i can score more point and be the hero every night, right? yet, he does not want that! maybe he's selfish , maybe he's not, but i sure like the love and passion he has for the game!
HATE IT OR LOVE IT!

Brett Favre HAS been criticized for demanding a trade, then flip-flopping. It was all over ESPN. Maybe BET didn't report it, and that's why you missed it. If someone criticizes someone of color, it doesn't make them prejudice. Shaq is loved by everyone. Could it be that people don't like Kobe because he is a rapist? Do you support white rapists as well, or are you prejudiced?

Kobe's the best of our time. His talent is unparalleled and his instinct is unique and for real. I DON'T appreciate the way he is treating fans and players and the front office. You guys are right: winning it all DOES take a team effort. In my opinion anyway, the Lakers had decent enough to make something happen this season. Simply said, Kobe Bryant doesn't do a good job of making his cast better; they don't play to win, and they don't follow his lead. I just hope things work out well in L.A...

Come on, man! Race has nothing to do with anything.

This answer is simple: people do not hate Kobe Bryant because he is black. Racism in the US, not just in the NBA, but in other professional leagues, is minimal in comparison to sports in Europe (cite Thierry Henry's movement in Europe to stop racist fans). Kobe Bryant, first of all, still has a large following and a loyal fan base. His play draws admiration and excitement. However, there are many who oppose Bryant. Keep in mind that although there are people who do hate Bryant because he is black, along with all other black athletes, many of those people are not bigots. Kobe Bryant has many a time been selfish, cold to his teamates, disrespectful to his club management and coaches, self-righteous against the media, and cocky on and off the court. Terrell Owens is a prime example of someone one could say people hate because of his skin color. This is not true. LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, and Tracy McGrady are all black. People do not hate them for that. Yao Ming is Chinese. People do not hate him for that. Kobe has to change his attitude in order for people to appreciate him more.

It has nothing to do with color. The last time I checked the league MVP was a black man. He also makes less then Kobe, and a lot of other guys in the league. Do you ever hear him complaining about his worth or his pay? Do you ever hear him demanding a trade and demeaning his team? Kobe drove every good player out of LA, and now that it is just him, he is whining to get out. It has nothing to do with color, and everything to do with character. Whoever thinks it has something to do with color is so blind with Kobe-love that he can't see the greedy monster that Bryant has turned into.

LMAO. if you truly believe it's because he's black then I feel sorry for you, because you are going to fail in liife. Did you see the quote by "Ray Allen" in 04. he said. "Kobe needs at least 2 other good players around him in order to win the championship." he then said. "Give it 2 to 3 years and Kobe will be asking for a trade because he won't get those players wanting to do it all himself." Ray Allen hit it on the button. Kobe wanted to be the man, and got his wish, now that he realizes he can't do it alone he starts acting like the spoiled brat he is and demands to get out. LMAO.
