Do you give up? Is giving up right or wrong?

What if you are a smoker, a drinker, a drug user, a criminal, etc.? Is giving up still wrong?

Good ?n!

It totally depends on what the subject is. In the things you mentioned quitting is healthy and clears your body of unwanted chemicals. So in that instance I would say yes.

Other times, like learning a new thing (piece for a musical instrument, new job) even if it's hard, keep at it. The end result will be worth it.

And still other times, you just have to weigh the options. Is this course of action good or bad? What will the outcome be? If it is something you want, quitting is bad. If it is something that you don't or it makes you miserable for no good reason, quitting is good.

To each their own!

I like to accept a challenge and see it all the way through. But quitting in general cannot be labeled "right or wrong" so rigidly. There are shades of gray between the obvious black and white. Sometimes it is in the interest of the individual to quit and look for a better opportunity. Should someone stay in an abusive marriage just not to be called a quitter? Should someone stay at a dead-end job for the same reason? So you see, it all depends on the situation. But when you mention bad habits, then a quitter is a WINNER! To be able to go against your own desire and bad nature takes incredible courage and stamina to stay on the wagon. To those people I say: PLEASE! Give it up!

giving up can never be perceived as wrong or right. and the action is the only thing that may br judged, not the person. when it pertains to criminal activity or habits that are detrimental to the person or the people around that person, then giving up would be a necessary action. so to give up a bad habit is a good thing because reform for the better is obviously better.

my overall philosophy is that humanity is flawed, but can change if they unite & work together, & individually to over come our short commings. as for personal philosophy, i believe that there's a lesson to be learned in everything, even when forced up to the descion of quiting. i quit only when the thing i'm quitting becomes to overwhelming for me. there for, giving up is the right choice when it comes to that view.

personally, i hate quitting and never do it, but it is different with bad habits, every rule has it's exception.
plus, the fact that you recognise you've got a problem and make your best to solve it beats the not quitting life philosophy.

quitting is one thing but giving up is another. when you lose all hope you're giving up. but quitting such as in drugs or smoking or drinking or w/e can lead to a good thing.

I quit smoking. But instead of saying I quit smoking, lets say I began not smoking.

I have given up in my past. I have learned from those experiences that in life at sometime you will fail and from that you should learn that you are human and you do make mistakes.

"I'm DEFINITELY NOT a quitter..."

"I've been FIRED from every decent job I've ever had..."
