The bushings in your starter can be worn to a point that the armature is dragging a little. Extra power from a jump can overcome this for a while. But it will eventually burn up the windings.

Have you cleaned the battery terminals lately? If the car started with a jump, then the starter is not bad. Either the battery is bad or there is a bad connection with the terminals. good luck.

If your car is turning over, your starter is likely working OK. I would suggest that you remove your battery cables and clean the ends (both ends, not just the end on the battery)....especially the neg. Often this happens with dirty or corroded terminals or a corroded ground point.

clean the terminals with cocacola. It sounds weird but the acid from the coke will dissolve any corrosion you may have there and ensure a good connection to the battery.
