Great movie just imagine how much better it would have been with a larger budget and not done in front a green screen.

It was done exactly in the same manner as SIN CITY, though I thought SIN CITY was a whole lot better.
In some ways '300' was boring though the fight scenes were tremendous. But there were long periods before the battle scenes of melodrama where characters just talked, King Leonaidas talked, King Leonaidas looked serious, King Leonaidas bellowed orders, King Leonaidas climbed a mountain, King Leonaidas had sex with his wife, and finally King Leonaidas had some really great fight scenes. But you had to wait a bit for those fight scenes to happen.
It is very interesting to remember that all the acting was done in a room that was all blue screened and the scenes were all added in later. I read that it took 90 days to film the acting and two years to add the computer images.
Just the same you should go see it on the big screen and make up your own mind.

I saw it 4 times in the theater. I love it.
There is though the notion that they demonized the Persians. I have a Persian friend who took great offense.
But it was phenominal.

I saw it. I thought the action and effects were great but the story was...well there really was no story. I didn't have any attachment to any of the characters. I would give it a C-

Absolutely awesome. My favourite bit was
Leonaidas: "Dilios, I trust that 'scratch' hasn't made you useless
Dilios: "Hardly my lord, it's just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare"
How funny was that? Magical. I might just have to watch it again tonight now.

I am a huge fan of Frank Miller's graphic novels. I thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation, which was shot panel-to-panel from the graphic novel.

It was alright. Kind of forgettable. The plot was kind of boring and the acting wasn't anything special. Then again, it's kind of hard to showcase one's acting skills when all one is doing is yelling "Sparta!" and hacking people's limbs off.
