They are bored to death sitting in that house most their lives.

You may not believe this: I grew up in the country where dogs run free. They sleep a lot during the day. But, at night they search for sex. Our female dog would have several visitors in the evening but not during the day. Make sense??

well i have a basset and its pathetic that he sleeps in later than i do, and i sleep in till about 9:30! hes actually asleep right now, downstairs. and he usually gets extremely tired after running after the cat that we have for almost an hour, so he just plops down and sleeps.

uhm ... my dog plays around and gets really hyper and then he naps cause he gets so wore out ... plus ... what the heck else are they gonna do? ... its not like they can get on YA! and answer questions like we can ... plus .. their hearts beat wayy faster than ours and they use more energy than we do to do things

because my cat when i let her in , in the morning she sleeepppss all dayy until she wakes up at night haha

they have to recharge, cats nap approx. 16 hours a day...same thing...to get their energy back.

Guess it has to be boredom ~ aside from their being taken for walks and being fed and watered they have nothing else to do all day!
