I dont even think you are at a healthy weight to begin with. Don't worry about the "weight"...worry about the health of your child. You should gain at least 25 pounds......and most women gain about 40. DO NOT TRY not to gain weight, you will be putting your child's health at risk. Worry about losing the weight AFTER the baby.

to be honest - you really have no control over how much you gain - that is unless you just eat like a pig for 9 months.
I am 5'3 and gained anywhere between 30-60lbs with each child. Usually more with each kid. This time I am 23 weeks and have already gained about 15lbs. Actually I go to the Dr. today, so I will find out more. It is not that I am over eating - actually, I think I am eating less than before - it is just how much fluid you retain and how big the baby is, and how big your belly gets. Don't be concerned with your weight - Just don't over due it. You will lose the weight - maybe not all of it., I still am not down to my "normal weight" and this is my fourth kid. I never get back before I am pregnant again and there was a five year gap between my two sons.
Don't stress over it though - the Dr. will let you know if you are getting too big.

25-30 pounds usually. I was 115 when I started, and ended up around 145. I had twins, 6 pounds each. You should know that you only need an extra 300 calories a day for each baby you're carrying. Some women use getting pregnant as an excuse to go on a food rampage ("I'M EATING FOR TWO!!!!!!") Ask your doctor and he will tell you the same thing, 300 extra calories a day. That's like an extra sandwich. After I came back from the hospital, I only had about 5 pounds to lose, it's because I only ate the recommended 600 calories extra.

Since you are small 15-30 pounds. You really should check with your doctor. You only need 500 extra calories or less to keep you and the baby healthy. And those calories should come from healthy stuff like fruit and veggies. Most of your weight gain should be in the last 2 months. Thats when the baby will be growing quickly.

I was your size before pregnancy ( and thankfully now afterwards as well) and the doctors told me to gain 30 pounds. Try not to think about the scale. Just try to eat healthy and everything will be fine. Let your doctor worry about your weight. As you go in for your appointment they will tell you if you are gaining too much or not enough. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The Dr. always tell you to eat healthy, and gain between 25 and 35 pounds. I'm 8 months and have only gained 15pounds so far.My baby is fine and the Dr. say he is a big boy.Which doesn't concern me cause my 1st was 8pounds 13 oz and my second was 8 pounds 2weeks early. Good luck ! Eat healthy!

Between 25 and 35 lbs. You can be very healthy while gaining 35 lbs. You should eat a good variety of foods and not be obsessive of how much weight you gain during pregnancy as long as you aren't eating a bunch of crap. You should not try to "diet" while pregnant. Consult your OB with your concerns.

Girl it depends, there is no way of telling how much weight a person will gain during pregnancy regardless if numbers are posted out there on the web.

You and I are about the same size (pre pregnancy) Which means you are very thin and probably will need to gain 30 it sounds like a lot, but so far I have gained 15 at 28 weeks and all though I feel huge, it really is all baby. (and extra blood and fluids etc.)

You should gain between 25-35lbs. I am about your size, and gained 20-30lbs with each of my pregnancies. It's easier to bounce back afterwards if you eat healthy foods while pregnant, and walk daily.
