It is not necessary to find common denominators when multiplying fractions. Example 1/4 * 1/4 = 1/16 . You just multiply straight across.

First of all you have to convert the two numbers to compatble ones. 1/7 and 1/6 aren't the same so we have to find a 'common deniminator'. That is a number of fractions or 'shares' of a whole number. The only way is to find a number that both 6 and 7 can divide into. The lowest common denominator is 42 since 7 will divide into this 6 times and 6, 7 times.
So:-
8 1/7 = 7 x 8 + 1 / 7 = 56 + 1 / 7 = 57/7
2 5/6 = 6 x 2 + 5/7 = 12 + 5 = 17/6
Multiply 57/7 by 6 and 17/6 by 7 and you get:-
57 x 6/7 = 342/42 and
17/6 x 7 = 119/42

(342 x 119)/42 x 42 = 40698/1762 = 23 172/1762 =
23 81/821

you have to convert 8 1/7 into an improper fraction 57/7 and 2 5/6 into 17/6 then its 57*17 over 7*6. this is 969/42 your answer is about 23 3/42 or 23 1/14

You round it to 8 * 3 = 24.
