It may be true, however; there may be a way to prevent insurgency.

Not exactly. A war is won when one side loses the will or the ability to fight on. Because guerilla or 'insurgent' tactics are a possiblity, and take vanishingly few resources, even a badly overmatched force can avoid losing a war as long as they can hold onto thier will to fight.

That's why Iraq has been characterized as a 'propaganda war,' and why ideas like time tables get some folks so worked up.

Hitler put down the insurgents in the nations he conquered by using secret police and brutal tactics that we won't use. So yes and no, it can be done but not when you have any regard for the people you have conquered.

Yes.

The "fight" and the "strength" isn't necessarily in the numbers, but in the belief and faith in their cause.

I thought our government learned that lesson with Vietnam. Guess not. . .

**Hitler was a sociopath and a very sick individual. But even he in his deranged thinking had stated a few things that were correct about human behavior. One doesn't come to lead a country to do such horrific things unless they have some sort of understanding of human thought and behavior.

Wars are not fought to be won, despite what many patriotic people think. They are fought for money and that’s it!
