Concentration is theoretically known as amount of solute/amount
of solvent. Why solvent instead of solution? When we talk about concentration, we are talking about the strength of what you have. Such as Kg/L, g/mL... etc. You can express concentration with a solution also, all there is is different ways to calculate strength, and amount per given volume. Molarity, molality, % strenght, %(m/m) % (v/v). Again, there are different ways to calculate what you want. :)

units can be

grams / gram of solution

volume / volume of solution

moles / volume of solution

moles / mass of solution..

etc
