Far far too much. There is no such thing as a safe sunbed.
And yes, you can burn badly.

12 minutes is excessive. I'm very fair, but I have recently caught the sun during that heat wave we had a few weeks ago, so I have a base tan. I went on the sunbed for 6 minutes the other day. BUT, I wouldn't recommend 6 minutes to begin with, especially if you don't have a base tan yet. If you have a base tan then 6 minutes probably won't burn you. But try 3 to begin with. I cannot advise that you go on for 12 minutes. It is very intense, there is no way of working out the equivalent of sun, but unless you're used to going on beds regularly then 12 minutes will cause problems, most likely, sunburn.
Sunbeds can cause health problems, but if you go on occasionally, to build up a base tan before you go abroad or something, they're OK. I'm no expert, but some doctors actually suggest that people with skin problems like acne or oily skin go on occasionally, especially if the sun's gone into hiding like it has at the moment.
Some people should avoid sunbeds because they can be dangerous, like people who have moles or lots of freckles. If you're concerned then go to your doctor. But bear in mind that a few short sessions on the beds won't cause cancer - it is when people use them often that the problems start.

hello hasina
12 mins, would do way more damage than being out in the sun for a very long period of time.
it might make you healthy on the outside, but every session adds more skin cancer risks for the future.
If you want a tan, why not try a good quality fake tan, it wont cost as much as a sunbed and is safe, and even if you do choose to spend as much on the fake tan, you know you'll be getting a really good one.
Happy tanning.

12 minutes is a long time to be on a sunbed, especially if you have average to pale skin.
and yes you do burn on sunbeds, the longer you go on the more likely to burn you are.
