I've used frozen brine shrimp, but only as a treat - the regular brine shrimp loses nutrition as it grows, so it's better to use one of they types enriched with spirulina or Omega 3 fatty acids. The freeze-dried isn't enriched, so I don't really recommend it.

Since these are lacking somewhat nutritionally, it's best to alternate these with other foods for a better nutritional balance. If you really want to see them eat, try frozen bloodworms.

You can also give them veggies for treats. I've given peas (remove skins first), lima beans, shredded carrots, sliced zucchini and cucumber, orange slices, romaine lettuce, red bell pepper, and pumpkin. Cook or freeze for a few minutes to soften all but the oranges. The ones with red or orange color also act as color enhancers.

Some like it...mostly they prefer the flake food. I always tried to offer my fish different types of food, but the flakes always triumphed, lol.
