1997 Cadillac SeVille battery dying...?

Question

Everytime i turn the car off i have to jump-start is to get it started again, but when i actually get it started it will run until i turn it off so that tells me that it possibly couldnt be the alternator because if the alternator was bad then the car wouldnt run, but this is why im asking to the world, is it possible for the alternator to be bad enough to not keep the battery charged but still run the car??? The battery is about a year old give or take a little, any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!

This sounds like the starter is dying. You didn't mention how long the car had been shut off before you try to restart it. If the car has been off like over night then I'd have to say you have a parasitic draw somewhere in the electrical system. You can't leave anything "plugged in" over night in the dash or cigarette lighter. Any small power adapter can drain the battery too much and needs to be unplugged when you shut off the motor.

If you knwo the battery is good and the alternator is recharging the battery when the motor is running then you have a starter problem. You always start with a charging system diagnostic, like $25, and go from there. Sometimes it's just corroded cabel connections that need cleaning or a loose connection to the starter solenoid or something easy to spot. IF this has all checked out, then your starter is the likely culprit. You rarely get any advanced notice of when they might go but having to constantly jump it is a sign.

Oh they reported they have the paper artwork and each thing exceeded on the smog different than the examine engine gentle, which they say is the 02 sensor. ------------------------------- I assure the O2 isn't the undertaking. i does not assume a business enterprise who's something wanting an vehicle tech to know something approximately DTC prognosis. as nicely, an engine for this automobile fees $4000+ to purchase/set up. it is an all aluminum engine and Cadillac does not rebuild them. take a glance under the hood and tell me the way you intend on achieving the water pump actual. you may no longer. Does that $one thousand cost ticket nonetheless look stable? You guess it does not.
