No, this coming from a woman of 44yrs and two daughters that are already out of the nest. Children whether young or teens but especially children need time to grow outside the realm of school. The bonding time with families without the stress of arguing over homework or thier peers. Give them time to grow away from all that form of pressure. Parents and their children need that time b/c they don't get to spend much time together as it is now days. As for the teens there are those that develope faster mentally and would actually like to get their own jobs. When school is out is the best time for that b/c it is another form of teaching as well as learning. How else are they to become reaspnsible adults. After they have finished their schooling are you willing to just let them loose in the world? Would it not be better to help them at first to make sure they are able to make it on their own so when they do actually leave the nest they know something about the world that they are in? They won't be in school anymore! Also if made to go to school year round they should be able to schedule their vacations when they want to coinside with the families not when the school says so, and to be allowed to make up any missed work since it is to be excused. If it is allowed, is the schools not starting to control the family life also? The teachers of so many schools gripe now saying parents aren't raising their children right so now they want to take any chance they may have away and let them raise them! I think not!!!

I'd agree if I wasn't one of those teenagers.
Luckily, I can say that I don't think I've been too much of a burden...
