I sharpen my mind by getting plenty of practice in. At the rate I've been going, I can see my practice has payed off. I keep my mind alert and ready for anything. And like others said, a knife wouldn't hurt.

The ability to think on your feet, and keeping your temper. There are a lot of smart people out there, but not many of them can stay cool under fire and give good responses. It's the people who can prepare themselves for anything that can win in a battle of wits.

nothing, because true wit comes spontaneiously, and a true master of wit only uses his wit on the spot and doesn't go into the "battle" with a premeditated notion

Read anything that interests you on the subject, if you know the subject ahead of time.

By so doing you'll sharpen your knowledge base.

I was once told that I had the precision of a surgeon in terms of such interactions with people. Now, I see it more of a waste of time to enter such battles.
