They are showing repeats on tv lately. I used to love that show, but missed the last season or so. Whatever happened to Joel and Maggie? Did they get together at the end of the show's running? What happened to the other characters?

Joel and Maggie never got together. Rob Morrow, who played Joel, broke his contract and left just before the last season. They wrote Joel off and replaced him with a new doctor. During the last season Maggie and Chris became involved. I don't remember exactly how it ended - I think I gave up by then. But Rob Morrow was pretty much being a jerk and refused to come back and give the Joel/Maggie story any closure, and then the show was canceled.

For a while Joel and Maggie did get together, but then Joel disappeared into the woods, which actually was Rob Morrow leaving the show. He was replaced by someone who was/is a standup comedian with a wife played by Teri Polo. After that the show just sort of went down hill. The rest of the characters stayed on until the end which wasn't that much longer.
The show does show up as re-runs, I've seen it. And I do think some of it is on DVD.

I used to really like that show too but lost track of it. I found this:
