You have to be kidding.
Here you have Bonds a guy that used steroids for a short term during his career. He has not and I repeat has not tested positive for steroids prior to using the cream. We all know that if he had used prior with the number of haters out there someone would have come forth by now.

Then you have Peter "The Gambler" Rose. A man who dishonored the great game he was so passionate about.
A man who "SWORE" and signed under "OATH" that he would never "BET" nor "GAMBLE" on this great game of ours and did it any way. I guess Pete was more loyal to money than the game. Yet you still have people out there that want a man like this to be forgiven and placed into the hall. You must be kidding! If a man isn't worth his word he isn't worth a damn.

Do me a favor and don't put Barry the jerk in the same sentence with a "BANNED" loser like Pete Rose.

Chad K are you serious? Barry admitted to using the cream in court. He may have lied about not knowing it what it was but he did admit to using it.

Pete Rose denied he gambled and then wrote a book admitting he did it.
What a loser! He actually would have kept gambling had he not got caught.
His own words!

Like I said. Don't compare Barry the short time user/jerk with a crook that has been banned from the game.

Thank you Matt N.

Edward? Bonds's personal life is void from this issue at hand.
Do you know how much Pete Rose let the entire baseball world down when he was caught? It was like his 3,000+ hits didn't mean anything to him when he gave them up for the all mighty dollar. He deserves to be banned forever.

Barry, to be fair, is a jerk, but he's nowhere near the same class as Pete Rose. Rose has lied, lied, and then lied some more, with that mushroom haircut of his. Can't stand that kid. He tainted the game more than any amount of steroids ever could.

You must love both of these guys because the dark side is strong with both of them. So, Barry lying that he didn't know the cream was roids is forgivable? They are both cheaters in my opinion neither should be in the hall or have records for their cheating. The difference here is Rose's stats are valid where Barry's are tainted!

Barry and Pete both did things wrong and both should not be in the hall I don't care if Barry said yes I used the cream and if Pete denied gambling they both are cheats and should not be elected into the hall. So, in a way comparing them is exceptable because they both hurt the game in different ways.

How do you know he is a short time user? Because he only tested positive once don't be so naive.

First off let me say I am a Mets fan and have no love for either of them.
As far as Barry is concerned.... I agree that he has not tested positive for steroids, but the test for steroids is very complicated and you have to know which steroid you are testing for. Second, as far as an "oath" is concerned, I believe Barry took one before his wife, the public and God when he married his wife. You can be the judge as to whether Barry's apparent indiscretions constitute being a man of his word.

As far as Pete Rose is concerned, his problems arose AFTER he stopped playing baseball. His 4000 hits were NEVER questioned as to being "steroid" induced. If he had never managed, he would be IN THE HALL OF FAME !!! He did not wait the 5 years when he retired as a player before managing and had to start his eligibility years again.

Frankly, the comparison is this:
Bonds 700 (+) HR's.....questionable use of steroids
Rose 4000+ Hits......no steroid use

Personally you have to question who cheated baseball more. Gambling or "Steroid Cheating"

For some the answer is keep them both out...for other's it would be let one or the other in......

In Response to your comment:
When you said "If a man isn't worth his word he isn't worth a damn" , you opened up a can of worms as to being a man of your word in ALL WALKS OF LIFE........ Now...go catch his career braking homerun and put it under your pillow !! It should never make it into the Hall of Fame !!!!

As much as I dislike Bonds, I agree that he shouldn't be compared to someone who not only tarnished the game by violating one of its oldest and most sacrosanct rules, but also chose to lie about it for over 10 years.

I suspect that Barry used for several years, but time will tell. And if he did use steroids, it still doesn't compare to betting on the game despite the horror of the Black Sox scandal.

i dont compare them

bonds is a cheater! are you so naive to think bonds was a short time user!!

come on now. people who do steroids start doing them and keep up with them before they eventually ween themselves off of it

if you take them one time and stop you turn into a balloon, swell up, and then shrivle. hed have no muscle if he did it once!!

bonds is the result of years of steroid use. after 18 months of using the stuff is undetectable, and who knows wut he got from BALCO. hes probly gettin stuff that undetectable at first injection!!!

how do you explain his head size growing a full number....during HIS LATE 20s!!! thats abuse if ive ever seen it!!!

and as for rose, yes he cheated when he was managing. but do you think his playing career should be thrown away as well

all-time career hits leader is worthy of the HOF. i think pete deserves a ticket to Cooperstown becuz he is one of the greatest hitters of all-time, even tho his managerial term detsroyed his rep

so no i dont compare the two, outside the fact that both are idiots

Using illegal drugs in baseball is a tough sell, I guess, to the government. Look at the cyclist..... He gets to keep his medal even though he tested positive! Look at the various track & field stars that get to keep their world records even though they tested positive.....

Cream, clear, pills, injections..... Scary stuff but illegal, nontheless......

Gambling on sports while working for a pro sports team..... Not sure what the code of ethics in sports is regarding gambling, but it's wrong as well. Michael Jordan did the same while he was part owner of a team and gambled at a casino while still a player, but his name is still untarnished.

I don't know that the US govt. is thinking, but if people are already under the radar or busted for drugs or gambling, then why are they free and clear of any penalty?
