You need to know if you have an inner or an outer ear infection. To my knowledge, only antibiotics really work.

However, you can practice some prevenative measures.
After swimming, put a couple of drops of a 50/50 mixture
of alcohol and vineagar in your ear. This will help prevent bacterial infections. Sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If you’re an adult and you happen to have an earache, try applying a warm washcloth or a heating pad next to your ear. You can also try the cold therapy method by applying a cold compress or ice bag next to your ear for 20 minutes. Be sure to take a pain reliever, such as an acetaminophen, aspirin, or Motrin (ibuprofen) to help with the pain and reduce inflammation. Benedryl sometimes helps. If nothing works, seek medical attention.

Yes. I know it sounds crazy, but I recently got rid of an ear infection this way. If you have any old-time shops around there, or those natural medication shops that only use herbs and stuff, you can find Ear Candles. Basically they look like a rolled up tube, and you put the pointed end in your ear and light the other end. The heat pulls all of the ear wax and infection out of your ear. You can even see the infection that came out (it's chunky and white). It's very safe if you do it correctly.

You should never put ANYTHING in your ear unless the doctor tells you to. You're liable to make the infection worse. And if you let the infection go without getting it treated by a doctor, you risk rupturing your eardrum and damaging your hearing. If it hurts badly, take tylenol or motrin and hold a warm washcloth against it and get to the doctor!

One surefire was is to cut off the ear and let it bleed out, drink the blood, regurgitate the blood, mix it with ginger and thyme, put in a 24 foot corncob pipe and inhale deeply.

There is a reason ear treatments use antibiotics, because they are the most effective. Shell out the cash if you want the pain to go away.

DO NOT USE COLLOIDAL SILVER OR EAR CANDLES.

You should go to the doctor and be put on antibiotics!!! Putting more moisture in your ear i.e. oils or liquids that are not meant for drying up infection is only going to give your ear a more aggressive and moist breeding ground to create more infection. Bacteria thrive in moist areas..think about that.

Don't take antibiotics until their is visible puss. People don't die from ear infections. They die from secondary issues. Your body is a machine and usually heals its self. If you see puss go to the doctor. Garlic oil w/ mullein flowers dropped ( with a dropper) in to you ear will do the trick with in 2 days at the most.

Generally doctors prescribe antibiotics, but they aren't always necessary. Take paracetamol (as long as they are safe for you) four hourly.

Good luck - its a horrid pain.
