I am going to a broadways play (wicked) in chic. this sat and the play starts at 2pm, I know that generally the even shows are more dressy. So what type of clothing should i wear to a 2pm show? Would a sundress be ok?

I think a sun dress sounds just fine. I would wear nicer sandals, not flip flops though. If the show will be letting out around dinner time and you'll be going out after, consider something appropriate for both, but not over the top. A nice dress, but not formal by any means.

Have fun!

Chicago theatre is casual, especially in the afternoon. You'll see people in jeans; a sundress is fine.

To Henry: She said "Wicked." Obviously she means "a touring production of a Broadway show." Are you not familiar with this usage?

You can wear what you like. Broadway is in NY and not Chico.
Do you mean an adaptation of a Broadway play?
I wouldn't wear sundress but nothing formal either. A dressy blouse and pants combo would be acceptable. Or a silk dress, not too elaborate.
What are your friends or date wearing, if you aren't going by yourself? Ask them what they will be wearing.

Definitely daytime theater is casual.
A sundress is good with perhaps a nice light sweater.

Yes a sundress would be just fine, also a nice pair of jeans and a nice top would be good too.
