Because players would have made much more money staying in England.

That involves a long history lesson - and Falling Charlie is probably wrong about money. Because cricket is so big in India and Pakistan the top players there are probably better off than England players. When Ganguly lost the captaincy of India a while back he complained that it could cost him millions.

Its about proportions and percentages. Each team I believe has tryouts that are open to the public based on domicile, residency and nationality rules. So in theory anyone who fits the qualifications can make the teams.
England is a small country with a much smaller population, compared to the Asian countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. England has larger mix of Asian races proportionally than the Asian countries has of white people. It stands to reason therefore that the odds of an Asian in England making the cricket team are greater than a white making the team in in Asia.
Its not race...just numbers.

While players of Asian Origin have staked their claim in the England Team by their excellent performance, no player of western origin could stake their claim for entry in any Asian Team.

"Whiteys" as you put it are allowed in the Asian sides as long as the are eligible for those teams
All the Asians who play for England were either born in England or lived here for 3 years and gained citizenship.

I'm sure they are if the'd been living there long enough, were born there or have an asian passport. However England are better than any of the Asian teams at the moment so I wouldn't want to play for them anyway!

Looks like someone hit a nerve with that question. There is no restrictions on the race of a player. But every international player must be eligible to represent that country ( citizenship, birth, parents, etc.)

Probably because not enough white people live in India and Pakistan. And the ones that do are probably not interested in being cricketers.

Because everything has to be politically correct nowadays! Every football team HAS to have a black person on it, otherwise they get classed as being racist, just like cricket, that's why they have asian players on the England team!

We seem to let players from all over the world play for us. South Africa , Zimabawe two two prime examples. Surely the easiest solution is only pick players BORN in UK.
