Well... the spelling is unique but there are a lot of "Ashley's" on YA. Maybe you could change your user name to something that reflects more of who you are and what you like. For instance - what are your hobbies? If you are into soccer you could be Goal Girl.

Ashleigh (or Ashley, Ashlee, Ashlie etc) is a very common name now adays. But the way you spell it makes it stand out from the rest, instead of the common, or as you put it, generic way which is commonly spelled as Ashley. Be proud that you are an Ashleigh :-) I always loved that my name is Sarah, and even though every other girl seems to be named that, I don't mind at all! I think we have cool names.

Here are the definitions of generic:
ge·ner·ic /dʒəˈnɛrɪk/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[juh-ner-ik] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective Also, ge·ner·i·cal. 1. of, applicable to, or referring to all the members of a genus, class, group, or kind; general.
2. of, pertaining to, or noting a genus, esp. in biology.
3. (of a word) applicable or referring to both men and women: a generic pronoun.
4. not protected by trademark registration: “Cola” and “shuttle” are generic terms.

So, I would say NO, your name is not generic.

Well, it's pretty common but I don't usually apply the word generic to names.

The "eigh" gives it a twist, but that's being used quite a bit these days. Sorry, I think your name is a bit generic.
