The woman involved in the Duke case was a disturbed woman who was used by Nifong (the DA) to get elected and further his career. She gave varying testimony from day one; she could not keep straight what had happened, and believed she was telling the truth. Any DA with an ounce of morality would never have brought any charges, since there was not a case. The college lacrosse players were stupid to have hired strippers for their house party in the first place. The whole thing would have been a one day wonder if Nifong hadn't talked to the media (he wasn't suppose to) and if Nifong had not even thought about bringing up charges until the investigation was complete. He wanted to get a big case in the press before his election, even though he was a temporary fill-in, that was NOT suppose to run for re-election. It was the duke lacrosse men's decision to hire strippers for their party, a confused disturbed woman, and Nifong's ego that created this mess. Nifong was forced to resign, and has now lost his law license. But he was just made an example of, since it was in the national press. We had two local prosecutors who withheld evidence from a case that sent a man to jail for 8 years, before the evidence finally came to light. Did they lose their law licenses? Heck no. They have their law licenses, and are now prosecutors down east in NC. Welcome to southern justice. There is none. The ones who lost in this class were raped women, and will continue to be any innocent man or women who gets in a prosecutor's way, especially during election time.

When the Attorney General's office dropped the remaining charges against the lacrosse players, they announced also that they believed that the alleged victim believed all the versions of the story as she related them. Given this statement, it would be incredibly difficult for anyone to claim that she knowingly filed a false police report.

Not likely.
If she had been under oath and lied she'd likely be in big trouble.
It will unfortunately all lay on the back of the DA who apparently did a very poor job of investigating and interviewing before filing charges.
Liars like her get away with it all the time.

Most likely. She hasn't helped future rape victims (real ones) one bit. Unless it turns out that the Duke boys actually were guilty, which obviously cannot be proven without a polygraph test that may never come, I have no sympathy for her.

She is pretty much a joke and known as a slut in Durham (before and after the trial) and I dont think any male will want to be around her anymore.

She should. She did falsely report a crime. Look at the number of man hours, the salaries, the people that were working that case for no reason who could have been out helping those who really needed it.

False accusations of rape hurt everyone, and those found guilty of such lies should go punished, but who knows what the finale of this particular show will be.
*yes to the poster below me those rumours could very well be true*

Not sure, I've heard that some people have a suspicions that she was paid off to lie, the Duke players do have a bit of money. Feel bad for her lawyer anyways.

I don't know but she should, those boys will forever be remembered as being on trial for rape and because of that alone people will always wonder.
