After being married so many years, everything that you have (house, cars, furniture, etc) are there because you worked together to keep it - not just paying $$, but keeping the house nice and all.
Any divorce lawyer should be able to argue that you are entitled not just to half of the current property, but future earnings too (he DOES have a retirement, doesn't he?) Which he could not have gotten if it wasn't for you.

You would be very unlikely to get 50% of his current income. You would very possibly get 50% of any accumulated pension, and of family assets.
You need to see a lawyer. Negotiating a settlement is part of what a divorce lawyer does. If you're already divorced and have signed an agreement then that would most likely stand and you couldn't get more.
When he goes on social security, you'd be able to collect some also on his record if it's higher than what you'd get on your own.

I'm assuming you're talking about community property in a divorce settlement? This depends, honey, you'll have to meet with a divorce lawyer to discuss the particulars of your situation.
