What is the job market like? In the city is there an "artsy" kinda area of town with old houses and coffee houses and art galleries and such and does it have a decent school? what are some good neighborhoods in Birmingham?

With the revitalization that is starting in and around Birmingham it is becoming a decent area.
The number 1 employer in the Birmingham area is health care.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham has a good theater area.
The Birmingham Broadway series has brought several broadway style stage event to town(latest is Phantom of the Oprea).
The Birmingham Mueseum of art is very good.plus there are some very good local art gallerys.
With the college scene in Birmingham there are several "coffee shop-house" locations.
Not sure of the public school system in Birmingham but out lying areas of Hoover Nort shelby are some of the best.
