Sexual desire is different for different people. You don't need religious meditation to resist it. And just because your libido is low, doesn't mean you're unhealthy. Sexual desire is a natural instinct. Humans just like animals are naturally inclined to reproduce. That's all that sexual desire is. Now it's been perverted by society and multimedia and such...but it's still just a basic natural instinct.

The impressive thing about the Dalai Lama isn't that he's an old virgin, it's that he's an old virgin who has managed to resist the temptations today's society has made so readily "available" for all. By the way, I've gone 2 years without sex, and I was just as healthy as I am now getting it 2-3 times daily. I haven't been to church in 7 years, so it's just a matter of self discipline.

You can't let a sexual desire run your life any more than you should let your emotions run your life.

Most likely what the Dalai Lame is doing is Tantra. That is a more esoteric Eastern regimen. It has nothing to do with actual physical sex. It is by far more than that. It uses the power of sex and transforms it. It means raising the "Serpent Power" or Kundalini energy UPWARD rather than pulling it down....... what 99.999% do most of the time when engaging in physical sex so to say. It is Life energy we are dealing with here.

The Kundalini is depicted as a coiled up serpent residing in the lowest Chakra at the base of the spine..... out of the major seven psychic centers of the physical body. The 7th is the highest at the top of the crown, head..... connecting to what is called "God" or the ultimate light. You see many paintings showing a halo around the heads of holy men/women like saints and..... That halo signifies the spiritual progress these people have mastered. If you would be able to see auras - they are clearly visible. But.... you need to develop certain centers first to accomplish that.... mainly the 6th which is also called the "Third Eye" right above the nose on the forehead...... the frontal lobe. Meditate and awaken them and you will see for yourself. :)

As Swami Rama has said. Sex is a psychological need, not a physical need. Food is a psychological and a physical requirement. If one were to dream of eating they would still be hungry when they awake. If one had sex in a dream, they would be unable to have sex immediately upon waking. Basically, you have total control over any psychological needs. So just stop having sex if that is what you want to do. No more excuses.

That is more a belief. Your comment can also be phrased that "I won't spend a week without sex." That is a choice rather than human behaviour or biology.

Anything perceived as a need will be experienced as an unpleasant state. No one needs sex. Sex is a want. Like any want we can choose to act on it or not.

People who want/need a lot of sex are people who cannot cope with being alone.

It is a choice.

Everything starts in the mind. So,it is up to an individual to choose what one wants. There is no need to have sex as often as it comes into the mind. What I am saying is that just because the thought of sex comes into the mind that does not mean one has to have sex. The problem starts when one allows the thoughts of sex to stay in the mind, that is when the need gets stronger and stronger, playing on the mind and then only gratification can take it away. It is a choice we make.

Religion for some people is sex. Their body manifests all the symtoms of sexual intercourse when they attain a state of rapture. Sex ia essentially a mental activity as most men are aware as are a lot of women. Religion is to some, what ponography is to others - mental masturbation.
