Does the Device Manager show any problems with USB devices? Normally, USB devices are "plug and play" with xp--no installation of software necessary.

One thing that I would advise u to check is that make sure that the USB supprt is enabled in the BIOS.. Sometimes by default, the support for USB will be disabled..

Then move on to the device manager and check the status of the Host..,.
See if all the host are working properly. If yes then I would advise u to uninstall the ports and the hosts and restart the PC and the PC will auto install the software for the hardware... This might solve the problem....
The last thing that u can do dropby any computer shops and get the USB card... Ths will solve. All the best

You need to load the proper drivers which should be included on the resource or system CD that came with the system.

Right click on MY COMPUTER and select MANAGE. In this management window select DEVICE MANAGER in the left column. If anything appears with a yellow questions make or triangle with and exclamation point, then the drivers were not loaded. You can right click on them and try to install them, but you will need the drivers for the system and without Internet connectivity you may have to get them from another source and bring them in. Look for your restore or system disc that came with the system. What is the model of the system?

Sounds like you need the drivers to operate whatever you're plugging into the USB. You should be able to go to the company's website (the company that made the product of what you're trying to plug into the USB port) and download the latest drivers.
