LOL ... that is exactly what I tell my kids every day CONSERVE!!!
And they pretty much say what you just said, the rates will be the same.
My reply is, I'm not telling every one else to conserve, I am telling my family to conserve :)
In order for prices on things to go down, you cant get every one to use less, you have to get every one to NOT use at all until the demand is done, however this wont happen we relay on it too much.
If you were talking about fuel for our car's then I would say if we truly wanted to stop driving we could and we CAN get the gas prices to go down, but no one will, so the rich make it worse for the poor.
Don't conserve, simply live. If you cant pay your bills then yes you have to cut back on your resources, but if your paying your bills just fine then deal with it that no one cares enough to strike any thing to save a buck.

Instead of going over all the appliances in the house, there are only a few items that pull more power then the others. Check all of those devices that heat or cool. Another tip: If you're unsure, check the manufacturers label on the back of the device. Look for the power rating. This will be in watts (w), which isn't any major worry, or kilowatts (Kw) which is normally common with an electric fire or heater. Those items with Kw on the label are the culprits.

i have 1 window unit in the kids room on energy saver, my fridge, and 1 tv that's used for maybe 3-4 hrs a day by kids. all my lights are off during day, it's hot as heck in my house but i go into the kids room to cool off once in a while and my light bill still comes out to about 175 dls. my sister has all her lights on all day central air on about 60 65. fridge, 4 tv's used by all kids almost all day and her energy bill is like 180 a month what's the deal? they get more money out of me than her. the deal is i'm fed up with it but what to do.

This is no end to the madness. I heard the other day that oil refineries have decided NOT to increase capacity because of ethanol and hybrids, which will only keep prices higher.
Personally, I think our best bet now is nulear power.

Me! And I absolutely can't stand it. They say "turn up your thermostat to 78 degrees" Are they SERIOUS? Even at 75 degrees I'm too warm in the house if I move around at all - and my bill is still outrageous. I'm so sick of it I could just SCREAM!!!!!
