I am medically retired, but my wife and I are still partners in a health and wellness business that we have enjoyed very much. If someone has a love of people and helping them improve quality of life, this can be a very rewarding profession.
You follow a business plan that needs very little adjustment from year to year so you can just concentrate on the part of the business that you enjoy the most. I started out with zero capital. I had just 7 years of experience in the field where I made some contacts and developed my own business plan by improving on what was already the standard in the industry.
To be perfectly honest though- I have always dreamed about building small, Eco-friendly, Permaculture, themed living communities. We have not had any success at ever really raising the capital for such a large model project, but its fun to work on. About every 10 years I write up a new plan and present it to usually very interested investors. This is just one of those dreams not yet realized.

Something that everyone is going to be begging for in the very near future. In fact some are begging now. Renewable Energy. I know because I own a Renewable Energy business. With the cost of fuels, and power skyrocketing, more and more folks are going "Green". You can start the business at home, but you may have to expand it soon.

I think I'd like to have a business where I could take tourists out on sea cruises. Can't you envision it? Sitting at the helm of a nice ship, being in charge of a bunch of rich idiots, soaking up the sun and enjoying life? Outstanding!

my husband and i did open our own medical imaging mfg. business and its going great!! I dont have to deal with the public, only vendors and hospitals over the phone or fax. sometimes the public is sooo hard to deal with. we had a graphics business as well and found out that some people take up sooo much of your time trying to make up their minds for a 10.00 decal. needless to say i sold that business real quick!!!

I would love to open a concert venue... there is an old movie theater that closed down a few years ago where i live and it would be a perfect location..... If only i had the money
