That was question #1.

#2: If 9/11 had happened, how would Gore have responded and where would we be today in countering terrorism?

#3. Wouldn't the GOP still be blaming Gore for 9/11?

#4. If Sept.11th hadn't happened because Gore caught the plot in advance with intelligence, would the GOP folks not realize what he had thwarted and be ranting against him about something else.

#5. Where would we be today if Gore had won, 9/11 hadn't happened, and we'd had a democratic congress for 2 yrs. How about a GOP congress the whole time opposing Gore?

It might have happened but Gore would have gone after the guys that did it not someone who was not involved.

Of course the GOP would be blaming Gore for the 9/11. They blame him saying he claims to have invented the Internet which he never did claim. Or blame him for things to do with global warming also untrue.

They rail against him now and he is just a private citizen. Imagine what they would rail on him for had he beatten Georgie.

We would have a better and affordable health care system, lower crime rate, advances in alternative energy so we could tell the Arabs where to put their oil, there would be less unemployment, lower deficit if one at all, better control of items made in China for our safety. There would be safer home land ports of entry because our troops would be here to guard our own borders rather than butting into someone else's business. We would possibly have had a better immigration policy. Slightly higher taxes would be levied on the wealthy and huge corporations. Those who have settled their headquarters in the Caribbean to avoid US taxes would be taxed at a higher rate than those who stay in the US.

If the GOP were in any way empowered we would get very little if anything of substance accomplished.

It is hard to say. Possibly no. But the only reason I have to support that is that if he had the PDB that Bush got (e.g. al qaeda wants to use planes ...) AND he made security changes at airports, its is POSSIBLE 9/11 would not have happened.

#2-- pretty much the same thing as Bush did. We'd go into Afghanistan and step up anti-terrorism stuff.

#3 - yes

#4 - no way to tell--- probably, because the focus would be on something else, not the attack.

#5 - rougly the same place. But the economy could have been a bit better from 2001-2004. GOP congress would not necessarily be opposing Gore the whole time. Clinton worked fairly well with a republican congress. I have no reason to belive that Gore couldn't do the same.

Gore WAS 'selected' as President by the popular vote; but Bush used his family's wealth and power to influence the Supreme Court and overturn the people's wishes. I doubt that 9-11 would have happened because I believe that the Bush administration participated in - or, at least knew about - the planned attacked and chose to do nothing to stop it.
#2 - Gore certainly would not have responded by going to war with Iraq, a sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
#3 - Yes. Both political parties blame everything bad on their opponents; both political parties take full credit for anything good, even if it didn't happen on their 'watch'.
#4 - Yes. Our monopolistic, corrupt two-party system only serves as a stranglehold on our political freedom in this country.
#5 - We wouldn't be TRILLIONS of dollars in debt due to an unconstitutional, illegal, unjustified, immoral 'war' against a country with which the Bush family had a personal vendetta ever since Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was criticized, ridiculed and humiliated for 'not finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time. We would be living in a police state where some Hitler-like "Department of Homeland Security" presumes citizens to be guilty until proven innocent. We wouldn't have burned all our bridges with our allies and tarnished our reputation as a world leader and global peacekeeper. We wouldn't see such a scandal-infested administration intent on getting its own way without regard for the people. We wouldn't be watching China slowly taking over as the next great world super power. We wouldn't see total and complete disregard for the delicate ecological balance between all men, plants and animals necessary for the survival of all of us. We might see something getting done in Congress (even a GOP-led Congress) to help the sick, aged, disadvantaged, underprivileged, poor, unemployed, under-educated, disabled, homeless and hungry in this nation. We might see something getting done in Congress (even a GOP-led Congress) to rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure, reduce vehicle emissions, and pay a little more attention to the serious issue of global warming. We would almost certainly have seen the government jump into action to take care of Hurricane Katrina victims. -RKO- 06/20/07

9/11 was attempt number 2 and it would have happened regardless of who was in the White House.

Response would have been military campaign in Afghanistan. No Iraq.

#4 Thats ridiculous

Gore would have been a good president. The economy would be in about the same shape and world relationships and the war on terror would be going better.

(Oh yea, I am a conservative, Bush is not.)

1) No.

2) We would have not invaded Iraq. I believe Afghanistan would have been dealt with properly.

3) Absolutely. The still blame Clinton for everything for heaven's sake!

4) Absolutely.

5) Gas prices would be low, the environment would be better, international relations would be normalized, the gap between the wealthy and the poor would be smaller. The Federal Government would have stopped unnneccesarily bleaching paper with carcinogens. (The Feds are the largest consumers of bleached paper products in the world).

If the GOP had been in opposition, we would have the garbage compromises that we saw in the '90s. Corporations would be watering down otherwise good bills.

I think that people who say he would have been passive in response are misinformed on his public record as Vice President. Gore was known as the "hawk" in the administration and promoted the move which lead to the executive order to send the CIA to assassinate Bin Laden.

It's unlikely that he would have prevented 9/11 because it's pretty clear that there were endemic failures in the CIA, FBI and local law enforcement that created the "perfect storm" which allowed that to happen.

that is impossible to appreciate, of course, yet given Osama bin encumbered's vitriolic hate of the Bush relatives, which eclipses even his hate of "American Imperialism", that's conceivable 9/11 would not have exceeded off had Gore gained the election and been the sitting president...The Clinton/Gore presidency advance into nicely versed on the terrorism of al-Qaeda having experienced the WTC bombing in ’ninety 3 (37 days into Clinton’s presidency, yet no person blamed GHWB). In 1998 whilst the embassies in Africa have been hit, Clinton retaliated properly. And after the united statesCole advance into hit in October of 2000 via fact the Clinton presidency advance into coming to closure, President Clinton tasked Intelligence chief Richard Clarke with a plan for attacking the al-Qaeda Revolutionary Organization 17 November. It advance into a radical plan with many action products, and could have heavily impacted the al-Qaeda community, funds, and communications infrastructure. whilst George W. Bush took workplace, Clinton exceeded the al-Qaeda plan over to him, yet Bush desperate to scrap it. Bush desperate that he might desire to do it greater suitable, and threw the Clinton plan away. could Gore have thrown the Clinton plan away? Or could he could have carried out IT?

Had Gore won (Which he didn't) we would be speaking and writing in some other language then English. Gore would have sold us out to the highest bidder the second day in office. And that is what will happen if the witch gets in.

First of all, he was selected president. But if the election had not been rigged i think 9/11 may have still happened. If it would have happened I think he would have focused on Bin Laden as well as Saddam and handled the war situation differently. Gore would be blamed for 9/11. Any president in that situation would probably be blamed by somebody. If he would have prevented it there would be something else they would give him a hard time for I mean the guy can't get a break he was elected president by America and didn't even get to be president. If he had won he wouldn't have been in office now, he wouldn't have one the second term.

1) YES!
2) like a wimp
3) no
4) question is moot since that wouldn't have happened - you are assuming that Bush was asleep at the switch and should have caught the bad guys a head of time
5) paying much more in taxes, tons of bad laws would have been passed, amnesty would have already occurred and the US would be bankrupt due to all the GW crap that would have been passed. AKA - DISASTER

Why are you even asking this. As per our laws, GORE LOST!!!! why speculate?
