I can't imagine why he wouldn't show up in a search, and I'd have to question whether he's telling the truth.

Not only did he not show up in a search for major league players, but I also failed to find him on the Baseball Cube, which is a very comprehensive minor league database. It doesn't look like he played any professional baseball at all.

The only explanation I can think of is that he went by another first name?

I can't find a single stat on him ever playing on the Drays or the MLB, appearing on their expansion roster, being drafted or signed as a free agent- that icludes their minor league organizations. maybe he actually had a try out or was a non roster invitee to camp. Even if he was invited to camp though I'd expect to see something. Then again I only ran him through about 7 databases, there are tons more. The only mention I could find of a Seth Carter playing baseball at all was a graduate of Babson College in 1995 and that guy would be 34 now. It's possible he's telling the truth, I'd just ask him for a little something to prove it, like a copy of his draft notice or a contract. Surely he'd have at least copies of those. Most likely though I'd figure it was really a try out, not an actual roster spot in the organization.

Well he might have played for the Devil Rays' Farm Team. (A, AA, AAA) He didn't come up in a search because he probably never made it to the big leagues.

I can't find any record of him playing for the Devil Rays or any of their farm teams. If he had played for them, even if it wasn't for long, it would have shown up. He's lying to you.

Did he say he actually played for the Devil Rays, or in the Devil Rays organization (i.e. possibly the minors)?
