I agree with you, I liked episodes I, II, and III. I agree with the people who say the characters aren't as interesting. There's no characters like Han Solo, or Leia. They tend to be more wooden. As far as saying those three are all about special effects, well.......not really true. As far as the effects and action sequences, let's face it, they were a huge part of the original trilogy. But yes, there is some great storytelling going on still in the new trilogy. Some people complain about how everything is too shiny and sleek, whereas in the original, things were dirty and grimy. Well, this may be rationalizing on Lucas' part, but it's supposed to be that way, to show how everything was beautiful before the empire took over, and after that, things started going to waste. I think if you sit and watch all six, (not in one sitting, of course) you will see, like I did last summer, that as a series, all parts hold their own.

I've never heard anything negative... I love the Star Wars movies and they are not prequels they were written in order long before the movies were even thought of :) That's why they are stated as number 4, 5, and 6 and then 1, 2, and 3.

The fall of the hero idea and the basic storyline was great. That is not why people don't like the prequels. The problem was a very poor script, bad acting, annoying and superfluous characters, and general bad execution of the idea. It was a great idea, but it just wasn't done well.

I was not so intersested in seeing any of the "newer" Star wars. I saw the originals YEARS ago and liked them just fine...I heard this "negitive" feedback and just figured I would leave well enough alone... WELL, recently my boyfriend got all three of the new ones on DVD and I swear I sat and watch all 3 in two days...I may have watched them all in a row in one day but I have to work and i have children so watching 3 movies in a row is next to impossible...but I even got the kids to watch them too...we all have light sabers now and frequently use the phrase "may the force be with you". LOL seriously...I LOVED them. next we are gonna get all the origonals and watch them again...I think for as much as I liked them origionally I will have an even greater appreciation for them now.
STAR WARS ROCKS!

Because, the new movies are all about special effects. You watch and say, "Wow, what a great explosion." The first three movies, the originals, you were busy saying, "I wonder how they'll escape THIS time!" Instead of telling a story, it's just a bunch of eye candy. I like the movies, but they could have been so much better. Spend less times on making huge effects, and more time in characters and story-telling. Whatever.

i think my biggest problem was young anakin was whiney and annoying and the older actor who played him in two and three was a terrible actor who also whined a lot. it sucked to see such a bad a$$ like darth vader, starting off as a whiney little girl.
